JOGL 2.4.0 on Big Sur

CharlieBoy
Hi everyone,

I'm currently happily running JOGL 2.4.0 (to be exact JOGAMP implementation version 2.4.0-rc-20200306) on my iMac running Mac OS 10.14.

I'm considering upgrading my Mac to Big Sur (11.2) but before I do I wanted to check whether anyone has successfully  run JOGL 2.4.0 in this setting.

I would not want to lose JOGL! Am very happy continuing to make math pictures with my jreality apps, for example

Cheers,

Hello

Glad to see jReality still works. Rather use a more recent release candidate:
https://jogamp.org/deployment/v2.4.0-rc-20210111/

Maybe jmaasing or someone else can confirm for OS X 11.2. I only have occasionally access to some "old" Macbook Pro, I can't check by myself but it should work. In the worst case, you can use rEFInd boot manager to boot under GNU Linux (or Windows) on your Mac.

I have access to a Mac running Big Sur, but I haven't tried JOGL on it yet. Is there some general test of JOGL you would run, like GLGears? Or is your use-case something more specific?

GAMA (http://gama-platform.org) is running happily on macOS Big Sur using the latest 2.4.0RC version of JOGL and either JDK 11 or 15.

Thanks to everyone who took the trouble to reply!

I'm confident based on these responses that I can survive an upgrade to Big Sur, perhaps with an update to the latest JOGL build, as I did about a year ago when I upgraded to 10.14.
