Any plans of providing builds for Mac M1 'Apple Silicon' soon?

soerenop
I have noticed the contribution from Manu (https://forum.jogamp.org/JOGL-for-Mac-ARM-Silicon-td4040887.html) discussing how to build jogl (and friends) for Mac M1.

Before resorting to that solution, it would be good to know if M1 support, including ready-to-use builds, is on the roadmap anytime soon?

As M1 based Macs are distributing now and the OpenJDK builds are also out, the issue becomes more urgent as you won't be able to update to a M1 jdk as long as there is no matching jogl.

Please advise :-)

Hello

As far as I know, there's a remaining problem with this solution, it doesn't work with NEWT.

For those of us who don't need NEWT, and to refresh the question, are there any plans to produce a prebuilt version of JOGL for apple silicon?

Nothing forces you to oppose people, I totally get that many people don't need NEWT. Martin already suggested a solution in May:

You're welcome. Don't hesitate to share your findings and tell me whether it works as expected, I have no such hardware to give it a try.

Hi,

In addition to what Julien shared, here is a more direct link to download the M1 compatible JOGL version, either as Maven artifacts or as a ZIP file.
