Within the next few days and weeks,
we will relaunch JOGL, launch JOCL and present it as JogAmp. We don't expect this ML to be a high volume one, but if this changes we may add a developer list and/or one for each subcomponent. However .. our 1st steps are to make this baby running again :) http://jogamp.org Pre releases will always be available under: http://jogamp.org/deployment/webstart-next/ Have fun .. Cheers, Sven |
Sven,
What do you mean "relaunch JOGL" and "make this baby running again"? Thank you, Robert |

Our huge changes in the last 1.5 month surely enhanced it, e.g. queried available GL profile at startup time, support ATI, etc, but as those things are .. regressions happen. We are now in a feature freeze mode, fixing bugs and finalizing our new infrastructure. The latter includes autobuilds, auto junit tests, git repository, bugzilla and last but not least, this mailinglist. Further more, we have signed JARs, also running well under the latest JRE's (6u19/6u20 mixed-mode thingy). You are very welcome. ~Sven > > Thank you, > Robert > > ______________________________________ > View message @ http://jogamp-general.762907.n3.nabble.com/Hi-there-tp762996p763209.html > To start a new topic under jogamp-general, email [hidden email] > To unsubscribe from jogamp-general, click http://jogamp-general.762907.n3.nabble.com/subscriptions/Unsubscribe.jtp?code=c2dvdGhlbEBqYXVzb2Z0LmNvbXw3NjI5MDd8MzkxNDI4MzU5 > -- health & wealth mailto:[hidden email] ; www : http://www.jausoft.com ; pgp: http://www.jausoft.com/gpg/ land : +49 (471) 4707742 ; cell: +49 (151) 28145941 Timezone CET: PST+9, EST+6, UTC+1 |
Sven,
Was it to be discontinued? I don't believe JOGL was always under the name JogAmp. Is it still an official Java extension? Thank you, Robert |

I can not speak for Sun Microsystems anymore, however .. let the repositories speak for themselves: The Kenai repo I started in 2009 .. http://kenai.com/projects/jogl/sources/jogl-git/history http://kenai.com/projects/gluegen/sources/gluegen-git/history My current golden git branch http://github.com/sgothel/jogl/commits/master http://github.com/sgothel/gluegen/commits/master As you clearly can see, the kenai one has not experienced any new checkins, neither GL4 support, not even support for the new JRE mixed-mode applets restrictions (which we have). Besides these facts we also incooperate JOCL and more to come. > I don't believe JOGL was always under the name JogAmp. Indeed. Michael and I chose that name as a roof over the subcomponents. It was essential to find a new home and future for our project[s]. > Is it still an official Java extension? I am sorry to say that not even JOGL2 made it to become the desired JSR-231 upgrade. Since the original manager of JOGL2, me, and the most important commiter are part of our team, as well as the userland follows us - we have no concerns about so called JSR standards. If you have time and are willing to support us with such actions you are more than welcome. Another strategy would be to discuss our architecture with Khronos etc, however, this is not essential for the success of this project. JOGL and the other components are dynamically loaded and cached extensions everybody may use and support. The actual API is stable (javax.media.*) and we are not insane :) > > Thank you, You are very welcome. ~Sven > Robert > |

Robert,
JogAmp is the community around JOGL, JOAL, JOCL and GlueGen (and maybe more in future). Technically speaking its just a namespace for all projects. JOGL was never a java extension, it was a normal library. Nothing changed regarding this topic. best regards, michael |
