Re: JOGL packages for Ubuntu still relies on JOGL 1

Xerxes Rånby

Ubuntu/Debian use JOGL 1 for several of its own packages, worldwind, mysweethome 3d and more. All of these packages are maintained by the debian java team.

The best way to get the packages updated is by working on the debian java codebase.

1. Update the jogl 2 package to use rc11

2. Make upstream project switch to jogl 2

3. Update debian java to package the latest upstream sources.

4. Update debian/ubuntu bugreports and provide patches to fix bugs by update broken packahed to jogl2

Hi

Some maintainers still provide JOGL 1 for Ubuntu:
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libjogl-java

It means that some people still benefit of an unmaintained and completely obsolete version of JOGL. Does someone plan to tell them to remove or update these packages?

'manu' on these forums is the auther of sweethome3d and has been working with the updated Java3d that uses jogl2, the blocker
for him is the osx freezes with Java7, fixing that would allow him to move forward.

Harvey, maybe we should try InteractiveMesh's suggestion about GLProfile before trying more impacting fixes.

Agreed, that solves only part of the problem, but it's a better approach than the full removal of QueryCanvas
that I was unable to get working properly, this would allow us to hollow out that class more gradually, don't
know why I didn't think of it before.

That's the same thing for me, it was quite obvious.
