it usually works if you follow this instructions:

channel is jogamp, no password. Some of us are using pidgin, some gajim.

(i saw you entering the channel but exiting immediately)

[edit] solved, was gtalk; fix: just use a compatible XMPP provider

I use Jeti (that I fixed by myself) and SamePlace but I don't find any way of going to the chatroom.

  have you tried other clients? We do nothing special regarding user
management or so... connect and chat.

pidgin, empathy, gajim, miranda (...) are known to work on linux and
windows.
We hoped by using XMPP we would make it easy to access the chatroom
since its usually available everywhere and more or less an improved
version of IRC.

My pidgin settings:

Domain jabber.org
No proxy
Connection: Require encryption

Room: jogamp
Server: conference.jabber.org
