A while ago I dropped inter 32bit support (x86, i686, ..)
b/c for some platforms (macos at least) no JVM/JRE is any more available.
Further .. well, nobody complained about this on the desktop.

HOWEVER, if there is a good reason to keep a i686 for a certain OS alive,
I like to hear it and may re-enable it.

Yes, the status quo is for RC and release, as we use a rolling release model.
