Currently I'm working on both this and another port of Ardor3D to JOGL 2.
/dev/input/js and co. can be accessed on a lot of Linux distros by default, I use a Gamecube pad on Mageia Linux 1 and I don't have to tinker the read access. However, it is quite different for keyboards and mice; in this case, I would like to use NEWT and nothing else.
