Hello

Please can someone give a try to Oracle Java 13 with JOGL 2.4? It produces the following error message with JOGL 2.3.2 :
Exception in thread "AWT-EventQueue-0" java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: /tmp/jogamp_0000/file_cache/jln3160951728563156885/jln8316311171870168112/natives/linux-amd64/libnativewindow_awt.so: /usr/lib/jvm/java-13-oracle/lib/libjawt.so: version `SUNWprivate_1.1' not found (required by /tmp/jogamp_0000/file_cache/jln3160951728563156885/jln8316311171870168112/natives/linux-amd64/libnativewindow_awt.so)

Re: Oracle Java 13 + Linux : version `SUNWprivate_1.1' not found

Xerxes Rånby
I tested the JDK 13.0.1 General-Availability Release provided under the GNU General Public License, version 2, with the Classpath Exception.
https://jdk.java.net/13/

I was able to run newt Gears, awt Gears, swt Gears .. etc.. without problems using jogamp 2.4.0 source

jogamp/jogl/make$ /home/familjen/jdk-13.0.1/bin/java -DummyArg -Djava.awt.headless=false -cp .:../../gluegen/make/../build-x86_64/gluegen-rt.jar:../../joal/build-x86_64/jar/joal.jar:../build-x86_64/jar/jogl-all.jar:../build-x86_64/jar/atomic/oculusvr.jar:../build-x86_64/jar/jogl-test.jar:/home/familjen/jogamp/jogl/make/lib/swt/gtk-linux-x86_64/swt.jar:../../gluegen/make/../make/lib/junit.jar:/usr/lib/ant.jar:/usr/lib/ant-junit.jar:../../gluegen/make/../make/lib/semantic-versioning/semver.jar:../../gluegen/make/../build-x86_64/gluegen-test-util.jar com.jogamp.opengl.test.junit.jogl.demos.gl2.awt.TestGearsAWT

OK (1 test)

I am unable to reprouce the error you saw using the current JOGL 2.4 sourcecode in combination with JDK 13.0.1

To test the source build i edit the test script to enable the test i want to run:
jogl/make/scripts/tests.sh
Then i edit the x64 test setup to use the jdk 13 java
jogl/make/scripts/tests-x64.sh
and finally i run the test:
cd jogl/make
./scripts/tests-x64.sh

I have found this post
https://stackoverflow.com/questions/59217351/exception-while-setting-up-jogl-with-intellij
JOGL 2.3.2 (the current latest version) doesn't fully support Java >=9 whereas JOGL 2.4.0 does

Question : when the official JOGL 2.4.0 will be released ?

Hi,

There are no official stable release. The latest made by Sven is two years old and is a RC.

I patched it to extend macOS compatibility and made it available here : https://github.com/jzy3d/jogl-maven-deployer#getting-jogl-24-rc-4-for-macos-bigsur-20211116.

I confirm that the problem discussed here disappeared on my Ubuntu when I switched to JOGL 2.4.

Martin's suggestion should work but don't forget using --add-opens etc, I mentioned that in several tutorials.

No.

What do you expect from an « official « release ? What previous official releases have in common is that these were made by a single developer (Sven). Now that Sven stopped working on JOGL, what’s the point using a release made by someone else ?

I still don't get what you mean. The situation isn't ideal but we have to go forth and I assume that you don't want to stick to a version with bugs affecting you.
