project status

Evert B
Hi,

I just discovered this site and am very happy to see that Jogl still lives on (it certainly seemed dead). A big thanks to the people making this possible! Jogl is hugely important to the Java game developers community and I really feel it hasn't been receiving the kind of attention and care it deserves (by Sun/Oracle)...

There still is a lot of confusion to me however. What is the current state of the project (roadmap)? There certainly seems to be a lot of activity lately.  Are you working towards a long awaited stable release? When (approximately) can this be expected?

Also most documentation is incomplete or outdated. I wish I could contribute here but I'm still struggling to get a good understanding of the API myself...

Out of curiosity, where does the name JogAmp come from?

Also, a little history of the project would be nice. But off course you must have other priorities right now...

Big thanks, good luck and best regards,
Evert.

Hi Evert,

JogAmp stands for java open graphics, audio, media and processing apis. Its just a common namespace for all the projects on http://jogamp.org/ .

Most documentation (except the userguide) linked from wiki and the website is already up to date. If you found old stuff please let us know.

roadmap:
stabilization and a release. Our build/test cluster is (more or less) up and running we only miss some mac slaves.

when?
... don't know.

news:
take a look at the blogs aggregator:
http://jogamp.org/blog/

+ commit logs on github

regards,
michael

Hi,

All future roadmaps, contributions, collaborations, will be discussed at JOGamp BOF meeting @ Siggraph 2010.

If you are interested in JOGL or JOGamp apis in general, I guess it would be a good if you come to the BOF meeting.

PS: MAC slaves are on the way :)

Hope to See you all there.

Rami

(a little late sorry)

I won't be able to fly out to LA unfortunately (my budget doesn't allow such excess ).

I assume/hope we will be able to read about what was unveiled and discussed at SIGGRAPH somewhere afterwards?
